Lately I've tried washing my hair and face using baking soda. The usual shampoo we use are full of chemicals. Some may even cause hair loss. It's been a habit for me to look through the chemical content to avoid buying shampoo which contain carcinogenic chemical. Anti-dandruff shampoo contain even more chemical in their formulation. So, how can I look for a product

which is natural and have anti-dandruff property? There are natural product available in the market, but they are a bit more pricey.

So, I'm trying baking soda as my shampoo and using apple cider vinegar as my hair conditioner. The result is satisfying.

Pure baking soda contain only sodium bicarbonate. Sodium bicarbonate can be found from our pancreas which helps to break down fat. It can also be found from spring water. Since it is also secreted in our body, it can be said less harmful to our body comparing to other chemicals you can find from the shampoo. Sodium bicarbonate can be consumed. It is used in baking, that is how the name of the baking soda developed. You can even mix it with water and drink it to cure heartburn and killing cancer cells (food tract cancer). For further details about sodium bicarbonate and how it can be found in the pancreas, simply search the internet as I did to give you a synposis of sodium bicoronate.  The main intention for this article is to share with you my experience and result after using baking soda and apple cider vinegar.

I start with oily hair. After washing with baking soda, it is clean but a bit dull and tangled up.(View photo from my blog. Get the link to my blog at the bottom of this article)

Then I use Apple cider vinegar as hair conditioner. The result is good. I feel that my hair is smooth and shinny. It detangles my hair and feel like after doing hair treatment.

I wash my face with them too. After washing with baking soda, I feel clean and soft (but certain people claim that it is too dry). I actually try it on my cousin who has acne problem. The pimples actually shrinks after that. It removes the oil on your face. Then I swipe my face with apple cider vinegar as a toner. Not much difference I experience by washing my face with baking soda and apple cider vinegar as I do not have acne problem. But I do notice that my skin became softer like baby skin and fairer. But I do experience a great time rinsing my hair with apple cider vinegar. Feel so

soft and silky!

The amount and portions I use is just an estimation. I sometimes just mix them following my intuition. For the apple cider vinegar you can always mix more water with it.

Ingredients:

Warning: avoid contact with eyes.
Bought the Pure baking soda at the price of RM 19.90 (1.8kg) at Ace Hardware. The apple cider vinegar cost me RM 6.70 (16oz) at Cold Storage.

Facial mask (exfoliation)
1. 3teaspoon of baking soda with 2teaspoon of water.
2. Mix them with finger and apply it on face like you're putting a mask.
3. Wait for 5 minutes and gently massage it on your face.
4. Wash your face. (DO NOT rub it. Be more gentle as it works like a facial scrub. You might feel hot or slightly burning sensation at the first time.)

Facial Wash
1. Add 1 table spoon of baking soda with 1 cup of water.
2. Pour and wash your face. It will not lather like soap but feel like water with some slickness.

Shampoo
1. Mix 3 teaspoon of baking soda with one cup of water.
2. Pour on your hair and massage your scalp.

Facial toner
1. Mix one part of Apple cider vinegar with 2part of water.
2. Swipe them on your face with cotton bud.

Hair conditioner
1.Mix 1/8 cup of apple cider vinegar with 1 cup of water. (The amount is adjustable. My portion is for long hair)
2. Pour on your hair and leave it for 5 minutes before rinsing it thoroughly. ( It can be smelly, so do rinse it thoroughly. If your scalp has wound, you might feel painful. So do not use it if you have wounds)

* Another alternative is to mix with water and spray it on your hair until it is all wet. But you still have to wash it thoroughly until it has no smell. Unless you really love vinegar smell on your hair.

*Try washing your hair separately with apple cider vinegar without in contact with your body. As leaving the vinegar on your body or skin for 5 minutes might cause itchiness. But it is good for the hair.
* The smell of the vinegar can be hardly washed off. It may take 2 hours before it can disappear.
